The majority of patient referrals are made through the Polytrauma/Post-deployment clinic. Polytrauma care is for veterans and returning service members with injuries to more than one physical region or organ system, one of which may be life threatening, and which results in physical, cognitive, psychological, or psychosocial impairments and functional disability. Some examples of Polytrauma include: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); Hearing Loss; Amputations; Fractures; Burns; and Visual Impairment. In this rotation, trainees receive supervised experience in test selection, neurobiopsychosocial diagnostic interviewing, writing reports, and providing feedback to patients as well as communication of test results to referral sources. Trainees may acquire experience in facilitating a Cognitive Rehabilitation group. ✔ 2nd: 15-20 hours, EL: 16+ hours Mandatory Training Sessions: Trainings vary, but are easily completed online. Required Medical Center mandatory training, most of which can be completed online prior to training. Required Training Prerequisites: Attendance at specific meetings: Arranged with each supervisor.
