NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY | 23 “ I got interested in osteopathic medicine after I began playing high-school football. I was 6'3" but only weighed 155 pounds. Because I was skinny as a rail, I got beat up pretty badly and kept dislocating my shoulder and experiencing back sprains. My dad sent me to a D.O. who would fix me up in one treatment, but then two weeks later, I’d be back with another injury. When it kept happening, I decided to give up my football career. But that exposure got me interested in osteopathic medicine, and that’s when I decided to become a D.O.” —HOWARD NEER
