4 | Audiology UK MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR Nova Southeastern University’s Audiology Department was the first at any univer- sity in the world to offer an international post-master’s Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program. The goal of this program is to augment and expand the academic and clinical knowledge base of the working professional with contemporary, evidence- based practice. Our graduates are from across the globe, hailing from the United Kingdom, Latin America, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Malta, and China, among other places. The Au.D. program is clinically focused and culminates in earning the profession- al clinical Doctor of Audiology degree. Classes, which are held at the University of Westminster in the Cavendish/Maryle- bone area of London, are offered in an extended-weekend, live format every other month for a period of approximately two years. They are taught by experts in the field from the United States and abroad. Between class modules, students work on clinical projects and assignments related to their current study topic. We have carefully designed this stimulat- ing and challenging Au.D. program with the working audiologist in mind. To quote one of our graduates, “The Au.D. has helped me to be viewed as an equal to my highly educated colleagues and advance my clinical skills and knowledge. It has given me the confidence to know I am improving my patients’ quality of life.” Welcome to NSU. Erica B. Friedland, Au.D.
