The consolidated financial statements, which include estimated amounts based on judgments, have been prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. The university maintains a system of internal controls that it believes provides reasonable assurance that transactions are executed in accordance with management’s authorization and are properly recorded, that assets are safeguarded, and that accountability for assets is maintained. As part of the annual consolidated financial statement audit, independent auditors review certain aspects of this system of controls, but do not provide any assurance thereon. They do provide recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
