2 College of Dental Medicine Timothy Case , D.M.D. (’01), is the founder and owner of Case Dental Care, PLLC, a private dental practice in Tennessee, and Equilab, LLC, which provides asset equity training and coaching to health care professionals. Case served as a student leader at NSU and received the American College of Dentists Award for Professionalism at commencement. He then served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. On active duty, he served as acting company commander and as a member of the Dental Forensics Team. He received the Army Commendation Medal for his service as chief of oral surgery at the Taylor Dental Clinic and completed his service at the rank of major. Case then entered the U.S. Public Health Service, National Health Service Corps, and initiated a dental program for a federally qualified health center in Georgia, for which he served as dental director. His efforts resulted in many underserved individuals receiving needed dental care. Case is a member of the Chattanooga Area Dental Society, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, Federation Dentaire lnternationale , and the Chattanooga Better Business Bureau. He has served on the board of directors for the Chattanooga Area Dental Society, Mississippi College Medical and Dental Alumni Association, Lookout Highlands Homeowner’s Association (treasurer), and NSU’s College of Dental Medicine Alumni Advisory Board. A three-time recipient of the Tennessee Dental Association’s A.C.E. Award, which recognizes high levels of approved continuing education, Case notes that “an education at NSU translates into real-world, solution-oriented capability. Becoming acquainted with like-minded professionals in NSU’s collaborative environment was a wonderful experience. Having the confidence to solve complex problems for those I serve has propelled my career toward greater growth and personal satisfaction.” College of Engineering and Computing Dawn M. Beyer , Ph.D. (’14), is a Lockheed Martin Fellow in Colorado, where she works in information systems and global services. Among her many responsibilities, Beyer provides guidance, direction, leadership, training, and mentoring to engineers supporting multiple efforts across the United States. Beyer has worked in a variety of professional and managerial roles at Lockheed Martin, including serving as cybersecurity chief and chief technology officer at Lockheed’s Enterprise Integration Group in Colorado Springs. Beyer spent 12 years on active duty with the U.S. Air Force, followed by various assignments as an intelligence officer with the U.S. Air Force Reserves. More recently, she served as an intelligence officer (major) for the 302nd Operations Group/Intelligence at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. There, she provided operational planning, weapons and tactics, intelligence training, threat assessment, and mobility readiness to the 302nd Air Wing. Beyer’s NSU dissertation was titled “Constructing a Cyber Preparedness Framework: The Lockheed Martin Case Study.” She has an M.S. in Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University and a B.S. in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland. She has been recognized for achievements at the U.S. Air Force Reserves and Lockheed Martin. She has authored or coauthored publications in security engineering and cybersecurity, among other topics, and has served as the keynote speaker, panelist, or presenter at related conferences and symposiums. Beyer said that while at NSU working on her dissertation, she enjoyed the guidance and analysis of Marlyn Littman, Ph.D., professor at the College of Engineering and Computing. “Having a Ph.D. has opened doors of opportunity in career and industry organizations,” said Beyer. “It also established my credibility in the field.” Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award Winners
