Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards

On behalf of the Nova Southeastern University Board of Trustees, I welcome you to NSU’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards celebration. Tonight, we honor 14 of our alumni who are dedicated to advancing their professions and improving our community and NSU. As the largest, not-for-profit, private university in Florida, NSU teaches contemporary and relevant material to our students, while also instilling a sense of duty to community and pride in service that we hope carries through the lives and careers of our more than 170,000 alumni around the world. We couldn’t be more proud of our alumni, especially those being recognized this evening and throughout the history of this awards program. One key to producing successful alumni is superior educational training so our students can realize their potential. I am excited to share the news that Hospital Corporation of America East Florida opened Westside Emergency Services, part of Westside Regional Medical Center (WRMC), in partnership with NSU, on our Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus. The emergency room will not only be the cornerstone to a research and teaching hospital, it also will serve the surrounding community and provide our students with opportunities for clinical exploration and internships. Our proven record of educational innovation and excellence and our operational foundation of sound fiscal management are guiding us toward a future of national prominence. NSU is committed to strengthening our endowment in order to provide even more scholarships, attract the brightest research and teaching faculty members, and cultivate relationships with our alumni around the world. In the coming months, we will announce more information about how we will accomplish this. We invite you to tour the campus and see how we have grown—and are continuing to grow.
