The Benefits Plan Year at NSU begins on April 1 and ends on March 31 the following year, deductible and out-of-pocket limits are reset annually on April 1st.

Benefits become active the 1st of the month coincident with or following month of hire. If a premium deduction is missed, arrears will be collected.
New elections or election changes for medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, optional life insurance, Aflac, and LegalShield are made through the ICUBA Enrollment Portal at
http://icubabenefits.org or via
Sharklink.
New employees must make elections or waive coverage within 30 days of their date of hire. Current employees experiencing a qualifying life event must request changes within 30 days of the event and upload the requested documentation to their Employee File to support the change in status.
Retirement plan enrollment, changes or balance check are made through
TIAA
Dependent verification is required for dependent children, spouses, or domestic partners when being added to employee benefits through NSU/ICUBA.
Separating from NSU
Whether you are leaving NSU to pursue new opportunities or retiring, there are a few things you should know about your benefits once your employment ends. Below you'll find information and resources to help you navigate your benefits when separating service from the university.
- Most of your benefits will end at midnight on the last day of the month during which the termination occurs. You will be billed for the full month's premiums. Income Protection coverage (Basic and Voluntary Life/AD&D, Disability) ends on the date of termination.
- If you are a Puerto Rico or Coral Reef Fellows employee, you will be e-mailed a disenrollment form to be signed and e-mailed back.
- Notification for eligibility to continue coverage under the provisions of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) will be sent to you via US Mail within 14 days of your last date of employment. See COBRA Premiums
