The FAFSA Simplification Act and other federal legislation have resulted in a significant overhaul of federal student aid. This has affected the application process as well as the timeline during which students typically receive their financial aid offers.
The NSU Office of Financial Aid understands that you are eager to receive your 2024-25 Financial Aid Award Offer, and we are just as eager to provide it. Our office is working diligently to issue communications as quickly as possible.
Students whose FAFSAs have been submitted successfully will receive their aid offers as soon as possible after NSU receives correctly processed data from the Department of Education (ED). NSU has also received FAFSAs containing errors from the ED. The ED will release corrected FAFSAs to schools beginning May 1, 2024.
Tip! Be on the lookout for...
The best source for real-time financial aid information is your SharkLink portal.
Students and families can now make corrections to update their FAFSA. Corrections should only take a few minutes to complete:
Some of the most common corrections include adding a signature or providing consent and approval to access and use federal tax data.
1. Complete the 2024-25 FAFSA.
If you haven't already done so, submit the FAFSA as soon as possible for the best award offer.
2. Submit the 2024-25 NSU State Aid Application (FL residents only).
To be eligible for state aid, such as the Effective Access to Student Education (EASE) Grant, a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, and other assistance from the state of Florida, an NSU State Aid Application and supporting documentation proving you have been a Florida resident for at least one year is required.
The scholarship profile allows you to apply for additional institutional scholarships with one application.
4. Use the Net Price Calculator.
NSU's Net Price Calculator provides a close approximation of what a first-year, undergraduate student can expect to pay to attend NSU.
5. Monitor your email for updates.
NSU email and SharkLink are the financial aid office's official means of communicating with prospective and current students. All communication regarding your financial aid award will be emailed. If you are new incoming undergraduate student, your first financial aid offer will also be sent via postal mail.
