Weather Advisory

2013 Season Notification

As you know, the 2013 hurricane season officially began on June 1 and will continue through November 30. At Nova Southeastern University our first priority is the safety of our students, faculty and staff. To that end, the university monitors severe weather patterns and storms which may potentially affect our campuses and sites.

Should severe weather, tropical storms or any future hurricanes threaten our main campus or any of NSU's other sites, we will provide updates to NSU's operating status on the university's web site at www.nova.edu and on the NSU Emergency Hotline at 800-256-5065.

NSU's web site and hotline will contain information on campus closings, event cancellations and re-openings. We recommend storing the hotline number in your cell phone so it is on-hand when you need it. New information is updated on the hotline and posted on the web site as frequently as warranted. Information may also be distributed via email and/or via text messages. In addition, local television, radio and newspapers will be used to reach those do not have access to a telephone or to the Internet.

We also encourage you to review other resources available to you by visiting www.nova.edu/hurricane/. For your convenience, please visit this link to the Severe Weather Emergency Procedures brochure.

For NSU students living on-campus, please be sure to review the Hurricane and Tropical Storm Procedures on page 29 of the Residential Living Guide. We believe this multi-channel approach will keep everyone informed before, during and after severe weather or a hurricane.
