Community Service and Social Action Student Organizations

The following are NSU undergraduate student organizations that focus on community service and social action. Click here for an updated and complete listing of undergraduate student organizations registered with the NSU Office of Student Activities.

Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed national service fraternity. We devote ourselves to leadership, friendship, and service in all that we do. We are a service organization, the only service fraternity on campus; what this means is you are able to be a part of a social fraternity as well as Alpha Phi Omega. Many of our Brothers are members of other various organizations on campus and are very involved in campus life. We participate in community service of all kinds, and we provide our members with the opportunity to develop leadership skills through: service to the nation, service to the community, service to the campus, and service to the members of the Fraternity.

Best Buddies is a global volunteer movement that aims to create one-on-one friendships and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is accomplished at the university level by matching Nova Southeastern University volunteers in mutually enriching friendships with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. If interested in becoming part of this new service student organization, please email Paula Munoz (pm724@nova.edu).

CAUSE (Community Action Using Student Empowerment) strives to provide NSU students with service opportunities throughout the year that enhance the local community by working with a variety of different organizations.

If you are interested in becoming a part of this organization, contact Nicole Almeida at na503@nova.edu.

The Community Service Steering Committee is comprised of representatives of the service-based student organizations as well as students that are interested in taking their level of involvement to the next step. This group meets periodically to discuss community partnerships, ways to get NSU students more involved, and assist in providing guidance for the program.

For more information on the Community Service Steering Committee, or if you or student organization want to further discuss finding outside service opportunities, email Lauren Soares (ls1801@nova.edu) to arrange a consultation.

ROTARACT at NSU is a University based community service organization under the Rotary International umbrella in Nova Southeastern University (NSU).
