Allison serves as the director for the office of Student Leadership & Civic Engagement and oversees the Razor's Edge Leadership Scholarship Program. Within the office, she provides general oversight and focuses on the leadership programming, working closely with the graduate assistants in this area. Allison oversees all aspects of the Razor's Edge program.
Originally from Palm Harbor, Florida, Allison joined the NSU team in June 2011 from her role at her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity, Inc. She remains actively involved with her sorority and within the fraternal community. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Stetson University and her Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of Connecticut.

Aaron provides oversight for the Civic Engagement/Service program within the office. Aaron is active within the South Florida Regional Campus Compact and works with the SLCE staff to oversee and build the service trip program, local service events on and off-campus, as well as build relationships across campus and across Florida to offer and strengthen the service program at NSU.
Aaron is a Philadelphia native, joining NSU in July 2011 from Mansfield University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a Master of Science Degree in Education. Aaron is also currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in College Student Affairs from NSU.
Graduate Assistant for Razor's Edge
Nathaniel Berger is the Graduate Assistant for the Razor's Edge leadership program. In his role, Nathaniel works on a day to day basis with the students of the program providing both mentorship and advising. Nathaniel is responsible for planning all major Razor’s Edge events such as the annual fall retreats, monthly conclaves, and leadership symposiums.
While at NSU, Nathaniel will be pursuing a Master's of Science in College Student Affairs. Nathaniel is a graduate of Syracuse University with dual degrees in Political Science and Policy Studies. During his time at Syracuse, Nathaniel held many different leadership positions including being the President of the Residence Hall Association, the Director of Programming and Civic Engagement for the National Residence Hall Honorary, and holding a chair on the Universities Engaged Citizenship Committee.
Originally from the San Francisco, Bay Area, Nathaniel is a die-hard SF Giants, 49ers, and Golden State Warriors fan. Also, if you don’t find him in his office or in class, he'll be in the pool swimming laps!!
Peter Melnik is a Graduate Assistant for the Razor’s Edge Leadership Scholarship Program. His main responsibility is to improve and aid in the recruitment, selection, and management of Razor’s Edge students as well as supporting current Razor’s Edge students.
While at NSU, Peter will be pursuing his Master of Science in College Student Affairs. He is a recent graduate of Central Michigan University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management, and minors in Leadership and Philosophy. While at CMU he was highly involved in campus life including; chairing the Homecoming Committee, Facilitating Leadership Camp, and working with CMU's Leadership Safari program. Peter is originally from Pinckney, Michigan and is an avid Detroit Red Wings fan.
Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development
Sean Ryan is the graduate assistant for Student Leadership Development in the office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement. He oversees the Emerging Leaders Experience (ELE), Leadership on Demand (LOD), advisor for ODK a leadership honor society, and oversees leadership coaching.
Before coming to NSU to receive his Master's, he studied at the University of Iowa where he received a degree in Political Science with a focused area of American Institutions.While at Iowa Sean was very involved among his campus. He was the Executive Director and Associations Director for RHA, Orientation leader, tour guide, a part of an organization called Students to Assist Recruitment (STAR), a member of the waffle club and EMS organization.
Sean is originally from Waukon, Iowa which is a city in the northeast corner of the state of roughly 4,000 people. He has a lot of hobbies but really loves to cook, and hang outdoors.
Graduate Assistant for Civic Engagement
Tara Scagliarini is the Graduate Assistant for Civic Engagement. As part of her role, she will oversee all weekend service trips and alternative breaks that are available to students. She will work to raise students’ awareness of how important and rewarding service work in your community and around the globe can be. She will also work closely with the community to create relationships with NSU students and help gear community service opportunities towards students’ interests.
At NSU, Tara will be earning her Master of Science degree in College Student Affairs. Previously, she studied at American International College in Springfield, MA and received a degree in Sociology and Communications. While in attendance at AIC, Tara was very involved in Student Affairs. She was an Orientation Leader, Model Congress Executive Assistant, Peer Mentor Programming Assistant, and worked in several different offices. She also spent one summer completing an internship in Campus Activities at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY.
She is originally from Westfield, MA but is very excited to avoid the snow for a bit and explore what South Florida has to offer.
Graduate Assistant for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement
Lauren Soares is the Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development and Civic Engagement. As part of her role, she oversees the planning of the NSU Volunteer Fairs, the Winter Leadership Conference, and the Leadership Awards. She also works on building relationships with outside partnership organizations to provide both individual students and student organizations with a variety of community service opportunities.
While at NSU, Lauren will be working toward obtaining her Master of Science in College Student Affairs. She previously attended Boston University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology. At Boston University, she frequently volunteered as a staff leader in the Community Service Center, as the president of her co-ed community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, and as a tour guide for Admissions. She looks forward to helping students strengthen their connection to their community through leadership and service, both within NSU and throughout Florida.
