Area(s) of Research
I direct a team focused on remote sensing solutions for the regional-scale appraisal of shallow-water tropical ecosystems. My experience in the Earth and Marine Sciences spans more than fifteen years and all of Earth’s major coral reef provinces, ranging from ecological assessment, through sophisticated geostatistical modelling, to carbonate geology.
Current OC students
Jeremy Kerr [primary advisor]: 2010-ongoing. The importance of antecedent reef topography in ecosystem health and resilience.
Gwilym Rowlands [primary advisor]: 2007-ongoing. Hyperspectral remote sensing of coral reef processes in space and time.
The Mission of the Oceanographic Center is to carry out innovative, basic and applied research and to provide high-quality graduate and undergraduate education in a broad range of marine science and related disciplines.
