Letter from the Editor

Why are summer reading programs important? Research shows that summer reading programs are quite beneficial for adults and most importantly children of all ages. These programs encourage reading to become a lifelong habit, draw reluctant readers in by offering fun activities, help children keep their skills up and generate interest in the library and books. The Alvin Sherman Library has successfully offered an outstanding summer reading program for the past 11 years. We encourage you to check it out this summer beginning Sunday June 9, for a rollicking fun kick-off party. Don't miss out on the opportunity to learn without even knowing it!
