Dental Care for Kids: Seven Clinical Specialties

Our renowned dental health professionals offer a full spectrum of services to children and teens in the South Florida community. Each is reasonably priced and covered by most insurance providers. Choose the specialty that’s right for your family, and join us on a journey to a healthy smile.

Visiting the dentist doesn’t have to be scary! NSU Health provides standard dental care to kids at our clinics. From annual cleanings to cavity fillings, we do everything we can to make sure your child leaves our office with a big smile on their face.

NSU Health is proud to be one of the few pediatric dental clinics specialized in treating patients with special needs. Our pediatric special needs dentistry services also work in partnership with our Pediatric Autism Clinic at the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development. We use behavior management techniques and/or pharmacological therapy techniques in a careful, compassionate and time-sensitive manner that allows children to acclimate to the dental setting.

There comes a time in every parent’s life where they ask the question: “Is it time for my child to get braces?” NSU Health orthodontists have the answer. They can evaluate your child and use corrective appliances to align teeth, lips and jaws. We make sure our patients are always comfortable — and will be there every step of the way. We also offer Invisalign® (invisible braces) for patients of all ages, as appropriate.

If your child has an infected, cracked or traumatized tooth, visit NSU Health endodontists for root canal therapy. We work to alleviate pain for your child, while collaborating with your main dental care provider to make sure their smile is as healthy as possible.

Bring your child to see NSU Health periodontists for preventing, diagnosing and treating gum disease, such as gingivitis (most common in children). If left untreated, gingivitis can worsen and cause them to lose teeth or lead to a serious illness.

Does your child have any teeth that won’t get loose? Or teeth that are holding up the time to get braces? NSU Health oral surgeons can help speed the process along. We perform extractions and other surgical procedures to give your child optimal oral health. They can receive sedation in-office, as we consult with general practitioners and specialists in anesthesia and esthetic dentistry to determine the best course of treatment.

Growing up can be a lot of fun, but it’s also a time for accidents. Whether the accident was jumping on the bed or playing on the baseball field, NSU Health will help fix it. Our prosthetics specialists reconstruct and replace missing teeth and oral/facial structures with crown and bridges, partial and complete dentures and implant restorations.
