Thank YouR Benefactor

NSU alumni, donors, and friends provide scholarships to help pay for your education because they believe that students like you can make a difference in the world. You are strongly encouraged to express your gratitude to your generous benefactor(s) by writing a thank you letter. A well-written letter reflects favorably on you and is important to the scholarship donor, who appreciates learning about your goals and future plans. Your letter confirms the value of the donor's contributions and encourages his or her continued support.

If you have received an NSU institutional scholarship or endowment award, you may write and submit your thank-you letter by clicking the link below. The following is a suggested outline of how you might write your thank-you letter:

Salutation:

Please be sure to address the thank you directly to the donor/donor's family by name. If you are unsure of your donor's name, please contact donorrelations@nova.edu or the Scholarship Department.

Paragraph 1:

Thank the donor for his/her generosity in providing scholarship funds (mention the name of the scholarship you received). Tell the donor how this scholarship makes a difference to your education.

Paragraph 2:

Tell the donor a little about yourself–where you come from, why you chose NSU, and what field of study you have chosen for a major.

Paragraph 3:

Tell the donor about your goals and future plans after completing your education at NSU. Talk about how you plan to give back to NSU as a future Alumnus.

Paragraph 4:

Thank the donor again.
