Kristen B. Smethurst, MPAS, PA-C
Professor Smethurst is the Clinical Director and an Assistant Professor for the Nova Southeastern University Physician Assistant Program - Orlando. She joined the faculty full-time in May of 2010 after serving as a clinical preceptor and an adjunct professor. Ms. Smethurst received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University Of Florida School Of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. Upon graduation from the physician assistant program she was awarded the distinguished "Outstanding Clinical Student" Award.
Professor Smethurst has seven years of clinical experience in family practice, emergency medicine, inpatient internal medicine, and most recently in women's health. Before joining the faculty she developed a medically supervised weight loss program for her practice. Her clinical expertise is in the management of cervical dysplasia, treatment of moderate obesity, and the evaluation and management of patients with infertility.
Ms. Smethurst is married to her wonderful husband Jay. Together they have a beautiful daughter named Emme. She enjoys time with family and friends and has recently started competing in local triathlons.
