CHCS Professional Accreditation

  • The Master of Occupational Therapy Program in Fort Lauderdale is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®), American Occupational Therapy Association, 4720 Montgomery Lane, PO Box 31220, Bethesda, MD 20824-1220.

  • NSU's entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy program in Fort Lauderdale has applied for accreditation and has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. The program must have a preaccreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.  Students must complete 24 weeks of Level II fieldwork as well as an individual 14-16 week capstone experience within 24 months following the completion of the didactic portion of the program. The doctoral capstone experience must be started after completion of all coursework and Level II fieldwork as well as completion of preparatory activities defined in 2018 ACOTE OTD Standard D.1.3.

  • The Doctor of Audiology program in Fort Lauderdale is dually accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE) 1718 M Street, N.W., #297, Washington, D.C. 20036 and the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), 2200 Research Boulevard, Rockville, MD 20850-3289.
  • The General and Vascular Sonography program in Fort Lauderdale is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org).  Upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, the program has been placed on probationary accreditation as of September 18, 2020.  CAAHEP considers a program that has probationary accreditation to retain its status as an accredited program. Graduates from the General and Vascular Program will be able to take the national registry examinations SPI (Sonography Principles and Examinations), the RDMS (ABD and OB-GYN Examinations), and the VT (Vascular Technology) to obtain the RVT (Registered Vascular Technologists) credential.

  • The Cardiovascular Sonography program at NSU Tampa Bay is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology (JRC-CVT). Graduates of the NSU Tampa Bay Cardiovascular Sonography Program are eligible to apply for both the Adult Echocardiography and the non-invasive Vascular Technology professional registry exams offered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), and/or the corresponding credentials offered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

  • The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy First-Professional Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). NSU Accreditation

Nova Southeastern University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate’s, baccalaureate, master’s, educational specialist, doctoral, and professional degrees.
