After advising the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Public Works department for eight years, Carrie L. Sarver, Law (‘05) moved into the Deputy General Counsel position at Toho Water Authority. Sarver now handles the day-to-day legal operations of the public utility charged with providing regional stewardship over water resources in Osceola County.

NSU Researcher Receives a Nearly $2 Million Grant

We’ve all heard the phrase “men are from Mars, women are from Venus.” One team of researchers at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine is taking a further look into the differences between the two genders by researching male and female patients with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

NSU College of Optometry Celebrates 25 Years

The NSU College of Optometry held its 25th anniversary celebration on Sept. 13 at the Alvin Sherman Library. Nearly 300 guests were greeted by a winged performer and an aerialist as they stepped onto the red carpet to have their photographs taken. Aerial drummers astonished guests as they put on a brilliant performance while they dangled 30 ft. in the air and a jazz fusion band and singer kept the celebration going throughout the night.

Baseball Continues Tradition with the Miracle League

The Nova Southeastern University baseball team participated in the Miracle League this past Friday. The tradition was started nine years ago by Director of Athletics, Mike Mominey, when he was the head coach. It has since been passed down to Greg Brown who has taken his team to the Miracle League for five straight years.

Nova Southeastern University Receives $2.85 Million Grant from U.S. Department of Education

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) has been awarded a $2.85 million Post-Baccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) grant, through the U.S. Department of Education’s Title V program. The grant, led by NSU’s Gregory Simco, Ph.D., and Meline Kevorkian, Ed.D., who serve as co-administrators of the grant, will be used to expand post-baccalaureate educational opportunities and post-baccalaureate academic offerings for Hispanic college students and students from ethnically diverse populations who are attending institutions of higher education.
