Dr. Cathy Lewis-Brim, Ed.D. '07, has been appointed Dean of the School of Business of Warner University. Brim began her career with Warner University in 1998 as an adjunct instructor with the Division of Adult and Continuing Education. In 2009, she was selected by the administrators, faculty, staff and students as Warner University's Carnegie Professor of the Year. She was also recognized as a nominee for the 2009 U.S. Professor of the Year Award. In addition to her new role at Warner, Dr. Brim serves as the pastor of the Church of God & Pillar of Zion in Lake Hamilton and Loughman, FL. Her greatest passion is teaching and ministering. She stated, "I am honored to accept the call to continue my ministry at Warner University."

N. Tracy Crowe, Ed.D. '99, was appointed the first virtual school principal in Massachusetts. The MASSACHUSETTS VIRTUAL ACADEMY is part of the Greenfield Public School System.

Alex Dash, MBA '10Alex Dash, M.B.A. '10, was recently promoted to a band 35 Manager position within the CCSG Risk Management Department at American Express. His new role will entail managing cancellations and reinstatements. After joining American Express as a part of the Leadership Path Program in 2007, Alex came to the Credit Operations organization and immediately made an impact. Alex demonstrated skillful collections ability during his time on the phones, and accepted the position of CRAT Team Leader in 2008. Following a successful year in that role, and during a time when Credit Operations was growing, Alex was tasked with onboarding over fifteen new leaders to the Credit organization.

Upon successfully onboarding the new leaders, Alex moved into his current role of Business Analyst within the Business Transformation Group. While in this role, Alex has acted as Fort Lauderdale's site MIT Lead, handling a wide variety of assignments related to network-wide performance and incentives. Most recently, Alex has been working on the Late Stage Collections Project that is aiming to in-source a portion of 3rd party outside collections agency work to our American Express proprietary sites internationally.


Kristen Doleva-Lecher, J.D. '02, has joined Wolf, Baldwin & Associates, P.C. as an associate attorney. Doleva-Lecher will practice at the firm's 606 Court St., Reading, office and will also be available for appointments in the firm's Pottstown office two days per week. She will focus on general litigation, family, and business and corporate matters, as well as alternative dispute resolution and mediation.

Larry Flegle, D.B.A. '03, will host the Georgia delegation at the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame 52nd Awards Banquet and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Flegle is a member of this prestigious organization that includes Brent Musburger, Bob Uecker and Bob Ryan.

Randy Fleischer, J.D. '91, has been elected Area Leader for the Democratic Executive Committee for Davie, Cooper City, Weston and Southwest Ranches.

Amanda Flynn, D.O. '04, is part of the AnMed Family Practice in Anderson, SC. She recently returned to work after maternity leave. Her supervisor was looking for a new family doctor and chose her because her information included being a grad of the NSU Medical School!

Mia Holland, Ed.D. '04, is an adjunct and dissertation advisor in the Fischler School of Education and Human Services. Holland recently co-authored Insights into Child Development Eighth Edition.

Zander Keig, M.S. '03, was presented with the Outstanding Alumni Award on 2/19/11 from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Keig was also appointed to TransMentors International, Inc. Board of Directors on 2/15/11.

Susan Messer, Ed.D. '10Susan Messer, Ed.D. '10, received the honor of "Teacher-of-the-Year" for Kendrick Middle School in Jonesboro, Georgia for the 2010-2011 school year. Messer was also selected as 1 of 6 Clayton County Public School Finalists for the entire school system. With 65 schools in the district, Messer considers this an honor after being an educator for over 32 years.

Lonnie Melvin, Ed.D. '01Lonnie Melvin, Ed.D. '01, recently published "How to Keep Good Teachers and Principals." This book serves as a helpful, hands-on toolbox to give educators more tools and strategies, including a new behavior modification model called Self-Correcting Behavior Modification. Educators will find this book will help them to get much-needed answers and relief to their continued attempts to serve as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Florence Ramorobi, Ed.D. '92, Continue to make a difference in the lives of young adults. She is active in the TRANSITION program, which is currently used to help adult learners progress towards postsecondary education.

Derek Sedlack, M.S. '04 (and doctoral candidate (SCIS Ph.D./IS), as a member of the editorial advisory board, authored the chapter Producing Candidate Separation Through Recruiting Technology in the highly acclaimed book Managing IT Human Resources: Considerations for Organizations and Personnel. The book was released February 2011 and edited by Dr. Jerry Luftman of the Stevens Institute of Technology. Sedlack's recommended expert system is described "as a valuable step in filtering prospective candidates" in a 24/7 global market and economy.

Clay Simmons, JD '81Clay Simmons, J.D. '81, served as a Circuit Court Judge and went on to serve as the Chief Judge of Florida's Eighteenth Circuit from 2007-2010. He was chosen as Judge of the Year in 2007. Now retired, Simmons is taking his next step by joining the Orlando office of Bryant Miller Olive. The attached press release details the work that Simmons will do as a member of the firm's State and Local Government and Litigation Practice Groups.

Robert D. Sparks, JD '05Robert D. Sparks, J.D. '05, was recently appointed Partner at the Givens Law Group. He is a former prosecutor with the Hillsborough County State Attorney's office and has been practicing at Givens Law Group since November, 2006. Sparks practices in the areas of Marital and Family Law and, with Christian Givens, will head up the new Personal Injury and Sinkhole Litigation division of Givens Law Group.

Tammy Thames, J.D. '89, has been selected as the Hearing Office Chief Administrative Law Judge for the Mt. Pleasant Michigan hearing office. Judge Thames started with as an Attorney Advisor in the Ft. Lauderdale hearing office and was promoted to a Senior Attorney Advisor in 2004. Judge Thanes worked as an Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and as an Assistant State's Attorney for the Broward County State Attorney's Office.

Joan Wenk, MS '89Joan Wenk, M.S. '89, is the president and founder of Creative Playrooms Montessori and Childcare Centers, a daycare center with multiple locations. Wenk serves about 1,200 children at locations in Maple Heights, Solon, Westlake, Strongsville, Stow, Parma and Independence, Ohio. Several of the schools have swimming pools, and Spanish is taught at no additional cost.
